Tai Hang Sai Estate

Tai Hang Sai Estate is the city's last private-owned housing estate, set to be demolished and redeveloped. Yet, some of the residents have refused to leave their homes and have protested for fair resettlement plans.

Kwok was one of the last remaining residents of Tai Hang Sai Estate who refused to vacate their homes, despite ongoing eviction lawsuits. On 21st June, Kwok returned to Tai Hang Sai Estate after appearing in court. He said, there are a few who decided to stay and fewer who are willing to fight. He described himself as a "radical" protestor who hopes to continue resistance despite legal battles over the estate's redevelopment and relocation plans.

Kwok said frankly, although he was not very well educated, he tried his best to go through the legal documents as he could barely afford legal consultation. Every day he would sit by his desk and try to read English documents to be better prepared in court and to fight for his rights.
